Curly Hair Types
Identifying your curl type!!! Wavy hair: Most generally hair falls into a couple different categories. Wavy hair falls right in between straight hair and curly hair. Wavy hair can be determine by a loose “S” shape curl pattern that sits closely to your head instead of sticking up away from the scalp like curly hair does. Most often people with wav y hair battle with problems such as how to style and frizz. Usually this type of hair needs lighter products that bring out the texture and lots of volume in the crown.
Curly hair: Curly hair can be determined by a tighter “S” shape pattern that is more consistent throughout your strands. There may be different size of “S” throughout your hair. Curly hair has lots of elasticity to it. If you take a strand and stretch it out and let it go, you will notice that it will quickly snap back to its original shape. This type of curl pattern also sticks farther away from your scalp than straight or wavy hair, therefore creating more natural volume and a cascading affect.
Kinky curl: Kinky hair curl pattern can range from and tiny “S” shape to a very big “S” shape. Generally this type of hair has multiple pattern , bends, and kinks in the strands. Its texture is densely packed which gives it an appearance of thick but very fragile hair. It doesn’t exude shine or glossiness but gives a soft sheen and soft feel to the touch. Kinky hair tends to grow up or out as opposed to down, so that the actual length of the hair may be up to 75% longer than what it seems to be.
